Built from a real apartment charging problem

ChargeStack exists for the practical side of charging. It was designed in response to the developing trend that electric vehicles are more practical and cheaper to run in high density urban areas, but the infrastructure is lacking in both skills and knowledge of people to offer services to support them.

Hi, I'm Adam Ware, the founder of ChargeStack.

I created the software for ChargeStack after starting my own journey to install EV chargers within my apartment complex. I had to navigate the many layers of perception from other owners while looking for a solution that would let us dip our toes into EV charging infrastructure without asking every owner to spend thousands of dollars on fees they may not yet see value from.

I noticed that most companies were happy to help install chargers, but they were geared towards larger installations. Those options often meant excessive infrastructure: grid testing, load balancing, and costly power cable runs to every car parking bay. That might be a future endeavour, but with only 8-10% of our residents owning EVs, we needed a small solution to start.

Finding software that was cost-effective for small setups was difficult, particularly Australian-centric software. That is what drove me to create ChargeStack. As a software developer with many years of experience developing and engineering software for commercial real estate and government applications, I understood what was required to make a solution that is both user-friendly and stable, at a cost that makes it practical to adopt.

We're a small operation, and we're keen to bring the cost savings and environmental benefits of EV charging to more people.
